About the NW History Express Project

Hilliard City Schools and the Northwest Franklin County Historical Society have been working together to develop materials to support the third grade social studies curriculum. The third grade Ohio Academic Content Standards for History ask students to examine the changes in our community over time.  This has been challenging for our students, as there are very few resources readily accessible to them.

Over the past year, we have been partnering to bring the resources of the Northwest Franklin County Historical Society and other organizations to the students.  Ms. Pat Garbrandt and her colleagues at the Society’s Library have been carefully preserving the history of our community and project is providing electronic 24 hour / 7 days a week access to a number of those resources.

Through this partnership, the Hilliard City Schools and the Northwest Franklin County Historical Society Library have been digitizing many of the artifacts and materials that exist at the library resulting in the creation of digital artifacts for use by the community and the schools.

Generous grants and volunteers from several organizations have made this work possible.  Without their support, this project would not have occurred.  More details on these grants and the many volunteers who helped along the way can be found on the “Partnerships” page.
